THURSDAY LUNCH WITH LEE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
So this is Thursday. And what have you done? Well we had lunch for 30 as usual. But today, in addition to our regular volunteers from the Ivory Coast, Indianpolis, Indiana, the emerald isle and York Street, Cambridge we were joined by six students from Lee University, Tennessee. They were taking a well-earned break from the rigours of their exacting academic programme (or rather program) to rustle up grub for the Centre's regular eager feeders. It's not an eating contest but we aim to serve up heaps of freshly prepared food every week. And today was no exception.

Today was also regular volunteer Denise's birthday, which explains the scrumptious chocolate cake pictured above. This year's student intake from Lee University arrived in Cambridge two weeks ago, had a couple of classes at the Centre and then "did" Bath and Wells. The trip included that wellknown world heritage site and national disgrace, Stonehenge. They will be away from Cambridge for a week now, visiting Edinburgh and Hexham and going to a football match (soccer game) at a ground that used to be known as St James's Park, featuring a team that last won a major trophy in the 1950s. (Is it OK to say that Andy?)

Young Mr Grace (look it up) would like you guys to know that you did very well. The apple crumble was tremendous, especially considering it was probably the first time you'd made it. We've enjoyed having students from Lee University at the Centre for the past 10 years. There's a really positive vibe when they take part in our community activities. Today they excelled themselves. We hope they will regard their much valued time at the Centre as an integral part of their experience of Europe and the UK. By the way Robert said twice today: "We're Americans." That being so, how come nobody is wearing a back to front baseball cap? Doesn't make sense.
