At St Paul's you’ll find an open, welcoming and informal family church of around 75 adults from eighteen to 92, plus 25 young people and children.

Our gatherings reflect the diversity of our membership and are very participative. Someone recently said: "The only thing that is consistent is that we never know what to expect".

Although the services are liturgically framed, each service is designed around a particular theme, world event, bible passage, family event or part of the church calendar. We take the bible seriously and often wrestle with it and our own stuff to make sense of our lives - this enlivens our community - and we regularly share food.

Sometimes we stay together for whole morning service but usually, after 20 minutes the young people go to their own groups and return for communion (alternate weeks). Our music reflects a wide range of tastes, both traditional and modern, as well as from around the world, Iona and Taizé.

Sunday at 8am
On the first Sunday of the month we have an 8am formal ‘prayer book’ communion service.

Sunday at 10.30am
This service includes Holy Communion twice a month. The first 20 minutes or so is for all ages and the young people then go to their groups. They rejoin the adults when Communion forms part of the service. The services use varied liturgy, the style is informal and a range of musical tradition is represented. A genuine attempt is made to include all ages, who are represented in our midst.

Sunday at 6pm
This follows a more traditional format with the use of the lectionary and worship books. Nevertheless, because there are around 20 of us that meet, the service is informal and intimate. It offers opportunity for space and reflection, as well as dialogue with the preacher.

Tuesday at 9.00 p.m.
Iona Service of Prayers for Healing
An Iona service of healing takes place at St Paul's church every Tuesday evening at 9 pm. A small number of people come together to pray for themselves, for others and situations which need prayer and for the world. There is an opportunity for the laying on of hands during the service and everyone is welcome to participate if they wish to. The service usually lasts half an hour and everyone is welcome to attend.
