St Paul's Church

Articles in the press

The World War II Memorial was reconsecrated after restoration on Sunday 7 May 2006. The May 2006 edition of "Ely Ensign" contained an article by Dr Simon Brook, St Paul's church archivist, entitled "We will remember them" about the damage suffered by the church and Hills Road in the war and the reasons for preserving the war memorial.  This article is reproduced on the website by kind permission of the author and the editor of "Ely Ensign".

The July 2005 edition of "Ely Ensign" contained an article by Dr Simon Brook and Owen Spencer-Thomas about the severe bomb damage to St Paul's in World War II which destroyed the original east window. The article entitled "Broken but Restored" is reproduced here thanks once again to the permission of the authors and the editor of "Ely Ensign".
