Farewell Agnes (for the time being we hope)

On 14 June, we said goodbye to Agnes who has been cooking lunch every Thursday since last September. She and her husband with daughter Audrey are heading for a 3 month stint in Singapore while also fitting in trips to see the family back home in Indonesia. Agnes has made a tremendous contribution to the Thursday lunch group during the time she has been with us, for which we would like to say a very big thank you. Her final culinary tour de force consisted of a delicious chilli con carne with a vegetarian  option for Jim, Terry and co.

It's usually someone's birthday on Thursday and this week was no exception. In her 8 month Thursday stint, Agnes has not only rustled up delicious main courses  She has also produced a series of breathtaking birthday cakes, each one seemingly more inventive than the last.  This week  the Centre Manager was the birthday boy and his cake consisted of the amazing confection shown in these photographs. Thanks Agnes for this and every other wonderful cake you baked, making our Thursday birthday celebrations such special occasions.
