Kitchen Project Completed
If a picture paints a thousand words, here are a few photographs in living, breathing technicolour. The first four show the new downstairs kitchen resplendent in its stainless steel glory. And for the benefit of those of you who can't see any improvement or never had the pleasure - the other photographs show what the downstairs kitchen used to look like.
Refurbished downstairs kitchen

It's not a competition and there are no prizes, but can you spot the difference?
The new downstairs kitchen is fully operational for Thursday lunch and Friday lunch and for many other activities involving the preparation and cooking of food. For instance, it was used with great success by the Indian Cultural Society on 30 September and to feed over 60 people at the church's annual harvest supper on Friday 6 October.

The refurbished upstairs servery has a microwave, fridge and dishwasher but no oven or cooker
The Management Group and staff of the Centre would like to thank the many individuals and organisations which made this project possible, including:
-
the people who drafted and submitted grant applications
-
the cooks and volunteers who made valuable suggestions about layout and equipment
-
Centre users who wrote letters in support of grant applications
-
Cambridge City Council and WREN for providing the Centre with grants
-
the anonymous benefactors who contributed £2,500 towards the cost
-
our own project leader who supervised dealings with the contractors
-
local shops and businesses which contributed a staggering number of amazing prizes for the auction and raffle
-
the organisers of the Winter Ball, auction and raffle, all of which generated additional funds for the Kitchen Project
A big thank you to all of the above and to everyone else who contributed in any way to the success of this project. |
