Thursday Group Trip to Southend on Sea
Didnt we have a lovely time the day we went to Soufend?

Our leader, the "eminence grise" or greying eminence, Michael Beckett
So oft we jolly well went as JY used to say on his inimitable prog. The vicar, JQ, Lady Catherine, Diane and Cat aka Catey and Jim (Birmingham City) and Nigel the dashing organist and David with his collection of ballpoint pens and David from the post office via Moldova and Norm the newspaper man and Dr Watson and Michael from Killarney and if you don't believe me here's a photograph in a car park at Southend to prove it.

We didnt have jellied eels wobblin' about like wonky wheels. What we had was fish and chips on the pier and several photographs taken in a car park. This next one is quite similar to the last one except that Norm (far left) is giving us a cheery wave, as is David (far right).

Here's another entirely similar snap:

We walked along the pier and after our fish and chips (or was it before) some of us had a bit of a sit:

Later the same century, we discovered that the pier had burnt down. But that was after we got back safely to Cambridge. |
