4th Annual Spring Fair: 13 May 2006

Spring Fair 06 bouncy   Bouncy Castle 2

The 4th annual Centre Spring Fair was held on 13 May 2006. If April is the cruellest month, can May be far behind? Weatherwise that is. Last year, the heavens opened and we were slightly deflated. As was the bouncy castle. This year. the rain stayed mainly elsewhere so we were able to remain outside. There were the usual stalls selling homemade cakes, plants, books and bric a brac. And a bouncy castle, this time with a Harry Potter theme, but  we didn't let that spoil the fun.

Derek and Pat Wilkin presided over the plant stall, selling a range of himpressive horticultural hitems including geraniums, tomatoes and mixed herbs.

On the bric a brac stall, John "Now then"  Thompson and Alasdair "Red Hat" Cant succeeded in shifting a significant quantity of heirloom quality items, one or two of which sold for more than 50p. Jane Gresham and her team produced high quality refreshments which were enjoyed by the thronging multitude.

Michael Beckett's mother surpassed herself (again) by baking an incredible number of cakes which sold like hot ones.

The rain stayed away, Martin Evans - chair of the Management Group - had his photograph taken wearing a funny nose on Mark Rigby's mobile phone and we raised over £700 towards the Centre's ongoing work.

CNV00060   SF06 tombola

Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day by running stalls.- like Carla (left) and Judy Reith (right)  who ran the tombola and  encouraged local shops and businesses to donate prizes. Thanks also to everyone who helped clear up afterwards and to our SiIN Cru friends, who ran a stall and provided music and entertainment.  Finally a big thankyou to the local shops and businesses - Kamis, Cambridge International Book Centre, the Co-op and the Pharmacy, Hills Road - which generously donated tombola prizes.
