THURSDAY GROUP TRIP TO CLACTON SUR MER

Just before we set off, as we were making the inevitable egg sandwiches, Sharon said Clacton air show was being held that very day. Should we go somewhere else, a faint heart asked? Would we be stuck in traffic all afternoon? In the event, our "can do", spirit of Dunkirk attitude prevailed. We kept calm and carried on, all the way to sunny Clacton. Nigel and Jim went on a ride on the pier. One of our number visited 12 charity shops. Late in the afternoon, we spotted a couple of Spitfires overhead, reminding us of the glorious island heritage that has made the Thursday group what it is today.
