PARKING OR BARKING? (plus je vois les hommes, plus j'aime mon chien)
FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH: AND SO IT BEGINS, EDNA
As the walrus said “The time has come”. But not to talk about cabbages and kings or why the sea is boiling hot. We have ignition, Houston. So now is the time for all good men (and women) to watch the much-discussed development project take off. Room 5 accessed from St Paul’s Road has already ceased to be available to language schools, to the PCC of St Paul’s, to Newtown Community Forum and everyone else. It's now the site office for the contractors who are about to convert the plans for the Centre at St Paul’s Development Project (CSDP) into the real thing. Exciting? You bet your sweet bippy!
The first thing they’ve done is create an opening in the flint wall on St Paul’s Road and pave a path to the fire doors. If you’ve been to St Paul’s recently, you’ll have seen the notices banning parking in bays on St Paul’s Road from 11 July until mid-August. That’s because the bays will be needed for contractor vehicles, although relations with the Civil Enforcement Officers (traffic wardens to you and me) have already been strained to breaking point. The last event in the Main Hall in its current incarnation is on Saturday 14 July. The last service in the worship space as is will be on Sunday. After that, the transformation begins.
