VOTE FOR FOODCYCLE
As you know, Cambridge FoodCycle doesamazing things to help people in need and to prevent food waste, but we've only just warmed up, there is so much more we want to do!
Please can you please take a minute out of your day to vote for FoodCycle Cambridge's page (vote here) at the Natwest Community Force awards. The prize is £6000 worth of funding and we could do so much GOOD with it. Things like -
A big fridge and freezer so we can store more good food for longer and stop it from ending up in a landfill. Another trailer to collect more food from supermarkets across the city. Training and other resources to start a second meal during the week at a local homeless shelter. Catering equipment so we can develop 'pop-up restaurants' for local charities and help get our food directly to people who need it.

These are small but mighty ideas that would do a lot of good for Cambridge and for our environment. We have served nearly 600 meals since February 2011 and saved over 423 kilos of food from going to waste. We have also created a new community in Cambridge where a mix of volunteers, old people, homeless people, people in dire economic situations and people who care about food waste can come together once a week over a (3 course!) meal. It's a simple idea and it really works.... but you know that already.
Local food and culture blogger Ivana Gresham wrote this great article about us for her blog, it gives you a great sense of what we do but if anyone fancies seeing Cambridge FoodCycle in action (who hasn't already) then please just let us know, everyone is welcome.
Finally, if you could promote this amongst your friends and other people you know, we'd be really grateful.
Thanks so much,
