Lunch Club Trip to Walsingham
13 July 2005
On 13 July 2005, 35 members of Friday Lunch Club and staff from the Centre hopped on to a coach with its enthusiastic driver Dan and headed to the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk.

We arrived in time for a delicious three course lunch which bore such a close resemblance to Christmas dinner that Michael Beckett spent the rest of the day wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. That's what happens when a humorous clergyman encounters a couple of sprouts in July.

After lunch we went into the main chapel for a talk on the history of Walsingham from one of the retired clergy followed by a tour of the shrine. Some then chose to attend the sprinking service, held daily with water from the shrine.

Mid-afternoon we made our way back to Cambridge bathed in the glorious sunshine that had been with us all day, only to find that Cambridge had been ravaged by a huge thunderstorm.
