THURSDAY GROUP CHRISTMAS TRIP TO NORWICH

On Thursday, 9 December, 14 of us boarded the N train - that's N for Norwich - at 10 12 am with less than a minute to spare. And at 10 30, as required by tradition dating back 5 years, we settled down to lunch starting with Michael Beckett's legendary egg sandwiches.

The Thursday Group meet for lunch at the Centre every week. Every 6 weeks, we embark on a trip. And at Christmas time our destination for the past few years has been the home of the Canaries, the cathedral city of Norwich.

This year, we made a bee-line for the cathedral (see the knitted nativity scene above), negotiating icy pavements en route. David Evans was wearing a pink hat he'd bought on a recent holiday to the Isle of Wight. It wasn't the coldest day in recent memory, but the hot soup we'd brought in thermos flasks helped keep the cold at bay. From the cathedral close, we made the short trp to the Oxfam shop and then via picturesque Elm Hill to the market square. Taxis to the station and a train back to Cambridge - on which we devoured the remaining victuals - completed another memorable day out.

You all look as if you're having such a good time, I wish I could have been with you but there, I had other things to do! I hope to see you all again sometime cos I do miss the companionship I found at Thurs Lunch Club. May I wish you all a peace-filled Christmas. God bless you all, Ann

Thanks Ann for your message. We had a great day out. We really appreciate the contribution you made to the group on so many occasions (the British Museum trip was a real highlight) and look forward to seeing you when your new schedule allows you to visit Cambridge at Thursday lunch time. Very best wishes for Christmas and the New Year from all of us.
