THURSDAY LUNCH REGULARS POINT THE WAY TO SOUTH AFRICA 2010

Our Thursday group regulars are not very interested in sport.  Every Thursday throughout the year they  tuck in to lunch, largely oblivious to such major sporting events as the Boat Race the Grand National, the Cup Final or  Wimbledon. On Thursday 3 June 2010, they were treated to excellent fare by Pam and Simon with nary a word about the forthcoming Derby. And there was certainly no mention of 1966 and World Cup Willie (remember him?).

However, next week marks the start of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. And though many of us weren't even born in 1966, the year of England's one and only success, when the World Cup comes round every 4 years, we nail our colours to the mast. So after Pam and Simon's excellent lunch, we indulged in a display of allegiance for the benefit of the camera, with a little help from an inflatable hand which - surprisingly - failed to make its reserve price at the recent Spring Fair.
