The Harmony in Harlem jazz orchestra is dedicated to the music of Duke Ellington, the greatest composer and bandleader in the history of jazz. Based near Cambridge and with a dedicated personnel from across Eastern England, Harmony In Harlem plays to a high standard. The original and authentic repertoire sets the orchestra apart from any other big bands or jazz bands in East Anglia, evoking the height of the jazz age and the Cotton Club days from the highly individual style and sound of Duke Ellington and his famous orchestra.

Harmony In Harlem can play anywhere in or around Eastern England, whether it be for a 1930s or 1940s themed event, jazz festival, dinner dance or concert. For corporate entertainment, weddings and either indoor or outdoor events, Harmony In Harlem is the perfect lindy hop orchestra or swing band.

The musical director, Michael Kilpatrick, has assembled an authentic repertoire of Ellingtonia primarily from the mid-1930s through the 1940s. If a dance or themed event isn't the order of the day, it's a concert featuring an inspiring selection of Ellington that is our speciality - from the raw sounds of the jungle through to vibrant swing, or from the darkest lament to the lavish and romantic.

Harmony In Harlem has performed regularcharity events in Cambridge, dances for the Cambridge Lindy Exchange, and at the Ellington 2008 international conference in London the orchestra was joined on stage by three alumni of Duke Ellington's orchestra: John Lamb, Buster Cooper and Art Baron.
