ST PAUL'S TO ST PAUL'S (AND BACK AGAIN)
Our August Thursday trip was to St Paul's cathedral. Train to Liverpool Street, bus 11 to St Paul's. No problemo. Cheese and corned beef and ham and Michael's special egg sandwiches freshly prepared before departure. As per usual we tucked into lunch on the train at about 10 45. Michael Beckett doesn't eat bread (bad for his back) so opposite St Paul's he peeled off the corned beef and ham and threw the bread to the pigeons. Naughty, naughty.
Everything went more or less according to plan except for the small matter of the paramedics and the ambulance, but that's another story. We went into the crypt and saw Nelson's tomb and that of the Duke of Wellington and made a point of checking out "The Light of the World" by Holman Hunt, partly because of the stained glass window in St Paul's and partly because of our dear friend, Michael Watson, to whom the image means so much. Sean the Sheep - or is it Larry the Lamb? - pictured with Denise, seemed to enjoy himself although he's not as white as he once was. The weather behaved itself. As usual on our jaunts outside Cambridge, it was a beautiful day. Thanks to everyone who went on this memorable trip for making it such a special occasion.
